For over 15 years, Beth Chaverim (Hebrew for House of Friends) Reform Congregation has been a place where families of Loudoun County, Virginia and beyond have found friendships to last a lifetime. BCRC offers wonderful educational opportunities for children and adults alike, many different worship experiences throughout the year, and lots of opportunities for socializing among friends.
Founded in 1997, Beth Chaverim is the only Reform Jewish congregation in Loudoun County - located about 30 miles west of Washington, D.C. We began as Loudoun Jewish Congregation – the first congregational Jewish presence in the area. After the unaffiliated congregation decided to separate into Reform and Conservative congregations, BCRC was born.
Today, we carry on our entrepreneurial legacy with substance, vitality and vision. Following significant growth, we moved into our first permanent congregational home in Ashburn in 2007 and retained our first full-time rabbi in 2010. We now have approximately 135 families in our congregation and over 130 children are enrolled in our religious school in grades pre-K through 11.
We continue to “provide the Jewish community with a forum for experiencing the religious, cultural and celebratory aspects of Jewish life, offering this experience in an organized, open, egalitarian environment where all members are comfortable with their diverse beliefs and Jewish heritage,” as written in our mission statement.
We are people of all ages, all backgrounds, all family structures, and hail from all over the country and the world. We are young families, seniors, singles, teens, empty nesters, interfaith families, same sex couples, Jews by birth and Jews by choice – unified by a desire to participate in Jewish life and education in a warm, caring and uplifting environment. Each of us devotes significant time and energy to maintaining our Jewish home. Our clergy and dedicated lay leaders provide innovative programming, spiritual inspiration and the motivation to grow as individuals and as a congregation.
We invite you to come in and meet our welcoming community, tour our synagogue, and learn why Beth Chaverim is a community that will give you everything you want in a religious home and MORE.
